Legal Fees for Estate Planning, Tax Return Preparation, and Entity Formation
For estate plans, including wills, trusts, durable power of attorneys, living wills, and related documents, these are flat fees which Eric will disclose at the initial meeting. There is no charge for that meeting.
Generally, both individual and entity returns are prepared for a flat fee which, like estate plans, are discussed at the initial meeting. The same for an entity to be formed whether in Massachusetts or another state.
Everything Else
For all other work Attorney Rothenberg does, he charges an hourly rate. The rate is discussed at the time of the first meeting. The rate can change without prior notice to you and is effective for the next month. The hourly rate is billed monthly and in 10-minute increments. He does not charge for normal copying, postage, printing or secretarial time which he well knows is an annoyance to clients. He requires a signed fee agreement at the time of employment, and there are much more details in that agreement. For all payments other than by cash, check or wire, he requires the client to pick up all fees for credit cards, PayPal, etc. Bills are invoiced monthly in the first few days after the month ends so you see what’s happening timely and don’t receive a very old and late invoice. Invoices are emailed to you. Payment is due upon receipt. He requests a retainer be paid up front and then maintained from time to time. Upon emailing you an invoice, the funds are taken from the retainer to his operating account.
